Infra Red optional enhancement makes the unit a floor cleaner only. As the unit approaches a pool wall or and obstruction, an invisible infrared light beam is pounced backed to the unit. When the cleaner reaches the object; it stops, changes its angle slightly and reverses to clean a new area of the pool bottom.
