Clark County YMCA - 6 lane lap pool
In 2014, WMS Aquatics has completed a 6 lane lap pool for the Clark County YMCA in Vancouver, WA.
In 2000 WMS built the first 0-depth entry swimming pool for this Y. Now 14 years later, WMS has been selected for the opportunity to once again, come alongside the YMCA in developing a beautiful, functional and popular aquatic addition. This new pool features the latest in pool gutter design, going green mechanical, with 97% efficient Raypak X-Therm heater, variable frequency drive on the recirculation pump, ChlorKing low pressure UV disinfection and Chemtrol chemical controller connected to the Internet. Also used WaterCo high rate sand filtration with recycled glass filter media. Recycle glass is beneficial as it is NSF approved, same size as standard silica sand, lasts longer, uses less water to backwash and less energy to filter the water.
The pool features AquaCreek ADA lift, S.R. Smith Legacy Starting Platforms, Competitor Racing Lanes. The lap pool has 6 lanes with a depth of 4 ft to 9 ft., specially designed for syncronized swimming. The gutter is deck level tile overflow gutter with Lawson parallel quiet flow grating. Designed to stop waves, this grating has more open area and is the strongest grating available.
The building structure is designed and erected by OpenAire whic is an extension of the exisiting YMCA Phase 1 aquatic center. This building was able to accommodate the existing HVAC and air supply. Infrasture was in place when Phase 1 was built, as both phases were planned from the beginning. This made construction fast and efficient.
"I have heard a lot of good things about the new pool! Eddie and I decided it’s the best one around. Thanks for a good job!!"
