VGB Regulations
Pool owners and operators who have one of the recalled drain covers listed in the CPSC press release should contact the manufacturer to receive a replacement or retrofit.
The CPSC recommends closing the pool until the drain cover/s are replaced. This recall applies to dual main drain and gravity drainage systems, unless they are wading pools or in-ground spas. Note: Wading pools and in-ground spas do not need to be immediately closed.

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, named for the Granddaughter of former Secretary of State James Baker. In 2002, at the age of seven, Virginia Graeme Baker died in a tragic spa accident after the powerful suction of a drain entrapped her underwater. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act calls for mandatory compliance in all pools and spas, to prevent suction entrapment.
